A Final Play in Snow City: Saying Goodbye to Singapore’s Indoor Snow Park

21 October 2026

Where in Singapore could we play with snow and shiver on purpose?

For 26 years, the answer was Snow City, and by the time you read this, it is gone.

We had visited the place in August, one month prior to its final closure. It was a bittersweet outing as the place had faded considerably from its heyday.

About Snow City Singapore

Snow City opened 26 years ago with an interesting premise: sub-zero temperatures and snow in the middle of a tropical island. Located in Jurong East, it became a rite of passage for families, school groups, and curious tourists. Over the years, visitors came for seasonal shows, snow sculptures, and snow play, often wearing borrowed jackets and gloves that never quite fit.

Snow City today

My first visit was back in secondary school. The facilities were well maintained then, the snow felt fresh and the whole place buzzed with excitement.

This time, the contrast was stark. The attraction looked tired, with greyish snow, worn displays, and dated equipment. That is understandable, since closure was only a month away and there was little reason to invest in upkeep. But it was still a sad sight for anyone who remembers its glory days.

Bumper cars and service

We queued for the bumper cars, and the wait outlasted the ride, which ran for under five minutes. Service was another letdown. The staff member on duty was curt and, frankly, impolite. The official photographer, by contrast, went out of her way to capture the best shots, which deserves a mention.

Final thoughts

Thank you, Snow City, for the fond memories you gave us, once upon a time. Bringing cold and snow to a perennially hot island would always be a special experience.

A rough final visit does not undo 26 years of cold-weather fun, and we look forward to whatever comes next for Singapore’s attractions.
