2025: Embracing Growth and Gratitude in the New Year

1 January 2025

The countdown began, so did the fireworks. The turning of a new page to the chapter titled 2025 rang loud and grand. A toast to the new year to welcome all the good.

Alas, this post is not about setting my intentions for the new year but a retrospection of the previous, and of all the happiness, sorrow, and growth experienced.

In 2024, I clinched a role and returned to the professional workforce in Singapore. I started a blog for myself, separating the identity of being a copywriter from simply a writer. I published an ebook — with details to come — and spent a little more time writing.

I have also pinned down the source of my permanent flu — an unfortunate allergy known as rhinitis. I’m keeping it under control with nasal spray and medication, and hopefully, a full recovery soon.

It is also with a heavy heart I bade farewell to my grandfather in June, 2024. Grandpa Yang was a kind man, not without flaws, but fondly remembered for his love of life and the joy he brought to us grandchildren. He will be deeply missed, as both a grandfather and a teacher who taught us the languages, the love for reading, and most importantly — to appreciate life.

2025 has started with tumultuous changes, tragic news, and uncertainties. But, the ink hasn’t dry yet. Where there is life, there is hope. And where there is hope, there is faith — that everything will be better.

So much growth has been achieved, even though it may be hard to notice. There are also many things to be grateful for: the food on the table, the roof over our heads, and the sheer miraculous breath of life.

This is a reminder to me — have hope and have dreams, and continue to believe.

Here’s wishing everyone a wonderful 2025 and to receive all the good fortunes and pleasant surprises the year shall bring.
