As a self-confessed coffee addict, connoisseur feels too generous on most mornings, a cup of coffee isn’t just how I start my day; it’s a non-negotiable. So when my sister introduced me to Ta.ti.do Coffee Roasters in Batam, it didn’t take long before ordering a brew there became a ritual of its own. One I look forward to on every single trip.

From the moment I stepped through the door, greeted by the warm, intoxicating waft of freshly roasted beans, I know we’ve found somewhere special. So if you’re planning a Batam trip or weekend getaway from Singapore, Ta.ti.do deserves a spot on your itinerary.
I’ll be honest: Ta.ti.do never fails to deliver. It’s one of my favourite coffee destinations.
About Ta.ti.do Coffee Roasters
Ta.ti.do is a specialty coffee roastery and café based in Batam, Indonesia. More than just a place to grab a cup, it’s a full expression of the specialty coffee philosophy: traceability, precision, and a deep respect for the farmers and origins behind every bean.
What sets Ta.ti.do apart from most cafés in the region is its commitment to roasting in-house. The team doesn’t outsource their roasting, they do it themselves, on-site, with a purpose-built roastery tucked right inside the café. This farm-to-cup approach means the quality of the coffee in your cup is something Ta.ti.do takes full ownership of, from green bean selection all the way through to extraction.
Exceptional Coffee Quality: The Heart of Ta.ti.do
Let’s talk about the coffee.
Ta.ti.do sources high-quality single-origin beans from renowned growing regions and roasts them in small batches in-house to preserve the distinct character of each origin. The result is a rotating menu of coffees that reflect the skill of both the farmers who grew them and the roasters who transformed them.
Spotlight: Alo Hamaso Mariwo from Tamiru Tadesse, Ethiopia

On my most recent visit, I ordered the Alo Hamaso Mariwo, a light roast sourced from Tamiru Tadesse’s farm in Ethiopia. The tasting notes: a delicate floral finish, bright white peach, and a lingering sweetness of white grape. It was layered, aromatic, and refined. And yes, each cup comes with its note introducing the bean origin.
Ethiopian coffees are renowned for their complexity, but what makes Ta.ti.do’s rendition stand out is the roast.
Roasted In-House: Transparency from Bean to Cup
One of the most distinctive features of Ta.ti.do is its in-house roastery, visible through a transparent window within the café. Watching the roasting process unfold while sipping your coffee adds a dimension of connection that’s unique.
Ta.ti.do also sells its roasted beans as retail bags, so you can bring the experience home. Whether you’re a home barista or just someone who wants to extend the pleasure of a great cup, picking up a bag to take back home is a must.
The Café Ambience: Minimalistic
The space at Ta.ti.do beckons guests in and to stay for long. Clean lines, thoughtful materials, and using coffee burlaps as a decor create an environment that puts the coffee, and the conversation, front and centre.

The curated interior complements the curated coffee menu: both are intentional and excellent.
Ta.ti.do on the Competition Stage
Ta.ti.do’s team isn’t just brewing great coffee, they’re actively participating in Indonesia’s specialty coffee competition circuit. This speaks volumes about their seriousness and expertise. You can rest assured every bean is curated and every drip is aromatic.
Where Craft meets Comfort
Ta.ti.do Coffee Roasters isn’t just a good café in Batam, it’s a genuinely great café by any standard. The coffee quality is exceptional, the team is passionate, and the experience of having a glass of something carefully sourced and expertly roasted is one I find myself looking forward to every trip.
