Step into the Sunflower Field: the Van Gogh Exhibition

30 July 2023

Van Gogh: the Immersive Experience exhibition has come to Singapore, the first stop in Southeast Asia.

Learn more about Vincent Van Gogh’s life, admire his venerated paintings, and step into the 360° multi-sensory exhibition where art meets virtual reality.

If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.

Vincent Van Gogh

About the Artist

Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch painter (1853-1890), an influential artist in the history of Western art. His paintings have become stupendously successful after his death.

From the famous Sunflower paintings to the Starry Night, Van Gogh painted approximately 2,100 paintings throughout his life.

Multi-sensorial Exhibition

Explore Van Gogh’s life by entering the realm of his paintings with this immersive exhibition.

This exhibition component features 300 of his prominent artworks that utilise two-storey projections combined with light and sound effects. The soundtracks that accompanied this visual performance enhanced the experience, enabling the audience to appreciate his paintings with a tinge of melancholy — perhaps a tribute to the artist’s turbulent life.

The Painter’s Journey

What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?

Vincent Van Gogh

The exhibition takes the audience through the painter’s life, following his artistic journey that spanned cities and rural towns in both France and Belgium.

Introduced to Hokusai’s artworks through trade, there were subtle elements of Japan (Japanisme) in Van Gogh’s works later on in life.

The Thoughts

Van Gogh ended his life at the young age of 37. Despite his depression, his unwavering devotion to art remained steadfast. Finding his place, and perhaps solace, in art, he had consistently produced paintings over a decade — reflecting his thoughts and views of the world.

Van Gogh is truly one of the most influential Post-Impressionist painters.

Greater things are done by a series of small things brought together.

Vincent Van Gogh

The exhibition is an absolute must-visit. In an all-new representation of art meeting technology, this exhibition has provided a moving visceral insight into Van Gogh’s life through his art.

It was woeful to learn about the mental struggles Van Gogh had faced despite his many vibrant pieces. However, his dedication to art and his relentless hard work had shone brightly amidst the darkness — bringing inspiration and hope to all.

Although it is regrettable that Van Gogh did not live to witness the success of his life’s works, his pieces have become a legacy today.

Exhibition Details

The exhibition is located at The Forum Level B1, Resorts World Sentosa. The visit will take around 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes. For more information, click here.
